Minibeast hunt in 1st/2nd Class

On Tuesday we went exploring in the school grounds and our beautiful school garden. We used magnifying glasses to help us examine any insects we found and recorded our findings on our minibeast sheets. We found flies, wasps, snails, centipedes, woodlice, spiders and ladybirds! It was so much fun!

Senior Infants Look Back

The school year is flying by! Last week Senior Infants looked back and chose their favourite school memory so far this year. The children made kites where they wrote about and drew pictures about their favourite school memory so far this year. Here are some pictures of their favourite memories in school this year.

A visit to the 1916 Memorial Garden

3rd and 4th Class visited the 1916 Memorial Garden at Newlands cross on Friday 27th May. We looked at the garden and spoke about the circular path that symbolizes peace and the seven trees that represent each of the seven people who signed the proclamation. We sketched the garden and also made some stone rubbings of the proclamation. Click on the image to see more photos from our trip.

Our Trip to Corkagh Park!

To celebrate 'Walk to School' week some of our 1st and 2nd class boys and girls went on a nature walk and scavenger hunt in Corkagh park. Karen, our Green School officer, showed us lots of different types of leaves and what plants and trees they come from. She told us how important it is not to pick the leaves from the trees because we are taking the insects food! We spotted some beautiful butterflies and lots of creepy crawlies. The boys and girls really enjoyed their trip to Corkagh park!
