Historic Day in Santry for our Amazing Athletes!

Our athletes created history for the school on Thursday as we brought back a record 17 medals home from Santry stadium! The children have trained so hard over the past few weeks and it was very satisfying to see them get their just rewards for their efforts. Indeed, we were informed that our school won more medals than any other school on the day! Debbie bolted to first place to win our first ever gold medal in a sprinting event! Sean confidently claimed the gold medal in the Under 14 high jump and our unstoppable girls under 12 relay team of Abbie, Debbie, Cara, Zara and Sophia powered through to win our first ever cup in that event! Our under 12 boys relay team of Mason, Sean, Max, Zach and Cian also performed brilliantly to take home silver in an incredibly competitive final. For some reason, we seem to have some very talented jumpers in the school! Joanna won the silver medal in the high jump, Mati won the silver medal in the long jump and Zoe also finished in the top 5 in the long jump event. Sarah battled so hard to win silver in a brilliant 600 metre race while Luke fought his way to a top 10 finish in the same event for the boys. Elias's superb strength earned him a silver medal in the shot putt while Miriam impressively finished in the top 6 in that event. Our Under 14 girls relay team of Grace, Skye, Amber and Sophia never gave up until the end and finished in fifth place in a really tough semi-final while our Under 14 boys relay team of Milosz, Dylan, Leon and Jayden were incredibly unlucky to miss out on a place in the final finishing in third place in the semi-final. Unfortunately Holly could not take part in the Under 14 sprint due to injury but Grace stepped up and gave a really good account of herself in that race. As did Antonio who narrowly missed out on a place in the final. We must also give a special mention to Sam who was delighted with his gold medal in the 'Race of Champions'! We have some exceptional talent in the school and we hope this experience inspires some more of the children to consider joining an athletics club to develop their talents further!
